Ada, Mich. (June 5, 2026)—Baker Publishing Group is pleased to announce their newest imprint, Seed & Sparrow™, set to debut in Spring 2027 with three lead titles from acclaimed authors. With an emphasis on teaching the truth of God’s Word to the next generation, Seed & Sparrow will publish picture and board books that communicate clearly and creatively to children while upholding the standard of excellence Baker has built over more than 85 years of Christian publishing.“
We’re thrilled to announce Seed & Sparrow to the world,” said Jesse Myers, President and CEO of Baker Publishing Group. “In launching Baker’s first dedicated children’s imprint we’re demonstrating a commitment to publishing the very best in Christian children’s literature. Our goal is for Seed & Sparrow to be a trusted source for books that help children grow closer to God and to publish books that point back to the Bible.”
Seed & Sparrow’s inaugural release will be The Joy Storybook Bible by Tara-Leigh Cobble, illustrated by Sarah Joy Kvam (March 2027; Cloth ISBN 9780764245367; $26.99). Richly illustrated, The Joy Storybook Bible captures the whole story of Scripture, from creation to redemption, with key stories from the Old and New Testaments. Each shows who God is—Creator, Promise Keeper, Provider, Redeemer, Friend, and so much more—while laying a foundation for a lifelong love of the Bible and the God who wrote it.
Cobble is a Wall Street Journal bestselling author and the creator and host of the daily podcast The Bible Recap, which has garnered over 500 million downloads. Cobble is also the creator of The Bible Recap line of books, including The Bible Recap for Kids, ECPA’s 2026 Christian Book of the Year.
Following in April, Seed & Sparrow will release Sissy Goff’s Goodbyes Are Hard, illustrated by Silvia Provantini (April 2027; Cloth ISBN 9780764245008; $17.99). Drawing on more than 30 years of counseling experience, Goff tenderly creates space for children navigating grief and loss to discover the comforting surprises that God brings as He meets them in their sorrow.
Goff is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author; the co-executive director of Daystar Counseling in Nashville, Tennessee; and the cohost of the chart-topping parenting podcast Raising Boys and Girls.
Rounding out the season’s lead titles is Half a Boat Won’t Float by Glenys Nellist, illustrated by Carolina Farías (April 2027; Cloth ISBN 9780800778934; $18.99). This humorous retelling of Noah’s ark uses rollicking rhyme and delightful illustrations to celebrate how God calls each of us to a special task and gives us the skills we need to complete it.
Nellist is an established and beloved voice in children’s publishing. The award-winning author of more than forty children’s titles, including a Junior Library Guild Gold Standard Selection, her books have sold over 1.2 million copies to date.
“Jesus used the metaphor of ‘seeds’ to represent God’s Word, which will be the foundation of allthat we do,” said Andy McGuire, VP of Editorial for Seed & Sparrow. “The imprint will focus on picture and board books for ages 0–8 that point little ones (i.e., ‘sparrows’) to God through timeless truth, beautiful writing, and high-quality illustrations. We want to produce the kind of books that children beg to read again and again, and parents are glad to do so.”
In addition to Cobble, Goff, and Nellist, Seed & Sparrow has signed Susie Larson, Kaci Nicole Harlow, Tara Hackney, and Sonja Anderson for forthcoming titles. In all, the imprint will release eleven titles in 2027 and plans to publish nine to twelve titles annually moving forward.
