Bethany House Promotes Editorial Team Members

Bethany House Publishers, a division of Baker Publishing Group, is pleased to announce the promotion of four editorial team members.

Raela Schoenherr, who joined Bethany House in 2008, has been promoted to fiction acquisitions editor. She has also held the positions of editorial assistant and editorial associate for Bethany House fiction. Schoenherr is a graduate of Bethel University and holds a bachelor of arts degree in business.

Charlene Patterson, who held the position of fiction acquisitions editor, has been promoted to the new senior editor role. She will be focusing on line editing, reviewing manuscripts, and managing the copyediting department. Prior to coming to Bethany House in 2003, Patterson worked at the Globe Pequot Press as an associate editor. She has a bachelor of arts degree in communications from the University of Northern Iowa.

David Long has been promoted to the position of executive editor in fiction acquisitions. Long has also worked as an acquisitions editor for Bethany House fiction and as a copywriter in the marketing department. Before joining Bethany in 1998, Long worked as an acquisitions assistant with Lippincott, Williams & Wilkins. He is a graduate from Penn State University with a bachelor of arts degree in English.

Andy McGuire has been promoted from nonfiction acquisitions editor to senior acquisitions editor for nonfiction publications. Prior to coming to Bethany, McGuire worked at Moody Publishers in both fiction and nonfiction acquisitions. He holds a bachelor of arts degree in creative writing from Miami University and a master’s degree in literature from Ohio University.

David Horton, editorial vice president for Bethany House, stated, “We want to recognize the key contributions these editors are making to our publishing program, and at the same time position ourselves for continued growth.”
