Chapter
38. Jude and Second Peter
Questions for Research and Discussion
- Who were the intruders that are in view in Jude? Give the various options and choose the one that seems most probable.
- Jude 14–15 is unique in the NT because it directly quotes a noncanonical source. Does this change the way that the quoted source should be thought of with regard to inspiration?
- Given that Jude and 2 Peter both had difficult times making it into the canon, does this affect their value in any way? Why or why not?
- Can we identify the false teachers in 2 Peter with any clarity? If so, are they similar to any of the other opponents that we know about in the NT?
- Discuss the eschatological vision of 2 Peter. Is this vision similar to that of the Synoptic Gospels? How does it compare to that of the undisputed Pauline epistles?
