Questions for Research and Discussion
- Trace the role of the Holy Spirit in Luke and Acts. Do you note any patterns? Any differences between the two volumes? Any similarities?
- How should we approach the issue that Jesus the proclaimer became the one proclaimed in the kerygma? Is this problematic? If so, why? If not, why not?
- Why did the language used in proclamation in the Gospels shift in Acts? Did this shift in terminology dilute the message of Jesus?
- Trace the growing universality of the Jesus movement in Acts. What role does the Holy Spirit play in this process? What sorts of things or people hindered the process?
- Discuss the historicity of the speeches in Acts. Defend both sides.
