Chapter

9. First Steps: Have You Been Called?

Discussion Questions

  1. What misunderstandings about God’s call do you most often hear?
  2. Why does God not always use a direct and clear call to full-time Christian service?
  3. If you have sensed a call from God, describe it and what you think it means for you.
  4. What factors are important for a local church when it seeks to verify a call to mission in one of its members?
  5. How would you respond to this statement: “I really want to serve God by ministering cross-culturally, but I just have never felt God’s call”?
  6. Imagine you work for a mission agency and have been asked to develop a policy to be used as a guide for interviewing prospective missionaries about their understanding and sense of call to mission. What elements would you consider absolutely essential to the policy you have been asked to create?
