Chapter
18. Ezra, Nehemiah, and Esther: A Time to Rebuild
Discussion Questions
- What truths found in the book of Nehemiah can we apply to our lives?
- Using Esther as an example, how important is it for us to mention God when discussing his hand in our lives?
- Why was it important for Nehemiah to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem?
- How should we respond when our faith is attacked in the way the Jews were attacked by Haman?
- How did Ezra and Nehemiah strengthen Israel?
Class Activities
- Conduct a discussion about the history of the Jews in Ezra and Nehemiah. Ask: What were the reasons for the three events listed on this transparency? Who was most responsible for the events?
- Assign one of the major characters to each group. Have the students identify positive and negative contributions the character made to the lesson taught in the book of Esther. Conclude with a feedback session. Class time allowed: 25 minutes.
