Discussion Questions

  1. What would be the attitude of Christians today if a pastor talked about seeing visions?
  2. Why were oracles used by the Old Testament prophets like Ezekiel?
  3. If a preacher were to use a symbolic act in a sermon to illustrate how Christians would suffer because of their failure to obey God, what would be an appropriate one to use?
  4. With what kind of idolatry do church elders get involved today?
  5. Why is it important for individual responsibility to be taught in churches today?

Class Activities

  1. Divide the class into small groups. Assign one of the symbolic acts to each group. Ask the groups to decide why this symbolic act was used. Follow up with a feedback session with the entire class. Class time allowed: 20 minutes.
  2. Divide the class into groups of four. Ask the groups to identify what they believe were the reasons the Judeans deserved the judgment of God. Have them take their ideas from Ezekiel 1–24. Conclude the session with a feedback session with the entire class. Class time allowed: 20 minutes.
