Discussion Questions

  1. What were the indications of peace and friendship between Israel and Judah?
  2. What were the differences between the kings of Judah and the kings of Israel?
  3. Are there any leaders today who are acting as prophets did in the books of Kings?
  4. Israel and Judah suffered failure and destruction when their kings rejected the Word of God. What applications do you think can be made from this to contemporary societies of the world?
  5. We often have individuals in the Christian community who are experiencing great success and prosperity. What does this indicate about their spiritual condition? Should we focus on methods of gaining such success?

Class Activities

  1. Initiate a class discussion about the good and bad kings of Judah. Divide the class into eight groups and assign one of the kings to each group. Have the groups identify the good and the bad things the kings did. Conclude with a feedback session for the entire class. Class time allowed: 25 minutes.
  2. Lead a class discussion on the topic “Prophecy Fulfilled in 2 Kings.” Have the students find examples of where prophecy is fulfilled and share them with the class. Class time allowed: 20 minutes.
