About

"Few other large cities on planet Earth are experiencing the sense of unity among their diverse Christian leadership communities as what Mac Pier has spearheaded in New York City. Read this and judge for yourself."--Bill Hybels, founder and senior pastor, Willow Creek Community Church; chairman of the board, Willow Creek Association

What would happen in your city if 10% more people became vibrant Christians working together for the good of the community?

Mac Pier knows from firsthand experience that when the gospel invades your city, big things start to happen. For thirty years he's watched and participated in what God has been doing in New York City. Now he shares true stories of transformation to inspire those who long to see God move in their own communities. He uncovers the greatest barriers to the gospel in major cities all over the world, shares hopeful stories of reconciliation, highlights the passion and leadership of young people advancing the gospel, and offers insight into how to start or join a gospel movement--wherever in the world you find yourself.

"If you're wondering whether the Christian movement is over, read A Disruptive Gospel. What Luke did for the first century, Dr. Mac Pier has done for the twenty-first century. I consider Mac the greatest authority on global Christian expansion today and was deeply moved by his firsthand account of God's astonishing work in global cities. As an eyewitness to this miraculous movement in Dallas and New York City, I can tell you that Mac's portraits are not only accurate but also transforming. James C. Denison, PhD, CEO and cofounder, Denison Forum on Truth and Culture

"It has been my pleasure to call Mac a partner and a friend for more than a decade. We quickly connected over our mutual eagerness to see Christians truly love their cities and work to see them flourish. Mac tells the brilliant story of how the love of Christ "disrupts" neighborhoods, cities, and nations when God's people join together and ask, "What does my city need, and how can I serve?" He bears witness to beautiful gospel movement stories from cities all over the world that are equal parts passion and practicality, inspiring many to leverage their lives to see the power of Jesus transform the world."

Kevin Palau, CEO, Luis Palau Association; author of Unlikely

"I have known Mac Pier for years and can't think of anyone more qualified to mobilize and equip Christian leaders with the tools to transform our cities. I highly recommend this important book to anyone who wants to be a part of creating social change. Get ready to be disrupted!"

Brenda Salter McNeil, author, Roadmap to Reconciliation

"After more than fifty years of struggling to find the right solution to rescue our cities, Mac Pier has given us the solution. We must become disruptive agents of God to erase the status quo and create cities that represent God's universal agenda."

Dr. W. Wilson Goode Sr., director and organizer, Amachi, Inc.; former mayor, city of Philadelphia

"If the native New Yorkers give the city its solidity, the commuters give the city its velocity, and the immigrants give the city its dreams, then this book gives us a resource that will help accelerate the mission to reach the world through its cities."

Ram Gidoomal, Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, chairman, the Lausanne Movement International Board

"Mac Pier and I have journeyed together for more than twenty years. This story tells the profound and remarkable ways God has disrupted New York City. I've seen it. Read and be inspired for your city."

Steve Bell, executive vice president, Willow Creek Association

"Mac Pier is one of the pioneers of the movement of the gospel happening in New York today. And he has taken what he has learned and has cultivated a passion for gospel movements in cities around the world. More than just a book of theory, this is a real-life handbook of what God is doing in the world today. A vital and important read."

Jon Tyson, founding pastor, Trinity Grace Church New York

"When Jason is dragged before the rulers of the city in first-century Thessalonica, he is accused of assisting those who brought the transforming power of the gospel to that city. The charge is telling: "These who have turned the world upside down have come here too" (Acts 17:6 NKJV). I believe the gospel has the ability to disrupt every facet of city life as it turns this world right side up! By creating a city-gospel-context and tangible, real-world examples of its impact, I believe this book is a catalyst for disrupting apathy and passivity, thus catapulting the church into the incredible opportunity global urbanization provides!"

Jurie Kriel, Doxa Deo and the City Changers Movement

"The gospel of Christ is alive and well, but make no mistake, it is disruptive. Mac Pier communicates with power and clarity the essence of what God is doing around the globe in the most impactful and vulnerable cities in the world. An unbridled movement is gaining momentum, and the message of Jesus is the power of this transformation--not in spite of the chaos in the world, but in the middle of it. God is igniting His work. He is disrupting the status quo. He's redeeming and rescuing. A Disruptive Gospel reads like the book of Acts, but then again, the gospel is still the bedrock for rebuilding any and every city on the planet. Prepare to be inspired."

Dan Wolgemuth, president/CEO, Youth for Christ USA

"In A Disruptive Gospel, Mac gives us a front-row seat, refreshes our imagination, and ignites a passion to the vision cast by Stott and Graham to take the whole gospel to the whole world by the whole church."

Daryl Heald, founder, Generous Giving

"A Disruptive Gospel by Dr. Mac Pier possesses the stories to infuse you with passion and the prophetic strategies to see gospel movements flourish in cities around the globe. I highly recommend this book as a must-read for all those who are serious about what God is doing now and who desire a peek into what God is about to do in cities across the earth."

Rev. Adam Durso, DD, CEO, Catalytic Consulting NYC

"The implementation of the principles in A Disruptive Gospel will culminate into a movement that is progressive but not without difficulty. It will be unstoppable, unmovable, and unshakable--the veritable kingdom of God on earth as it is always in heaven."

Sheila Bailey, founder and president, Sheila B. Ministries

"Passion. Vision. Purpose. Challenge. In Mac Pier's A Disruptive Gospel, each of these words leap off the page with accounts of what God is doing in cities around the world. This book is a call to action. I was deeply moved by the need and the call. I saw the power of many individuals who decided to do something in their city or country. I saw collaboration that works. Yet it is also a movement--a movement of the gospel into the cities. It can't be organized, yet there is a structure that forms in every city that serves to ignite a unity of initiative that powerfully impacts the city far beyond that of individual ministries and churches. This book will sow ideas and strategies for everyone who reads it. It gives me hope for a way forward in a divided and hostile world."

Jerry E. White, PhD, international president emeritus, The Navigators; major general, USAF; retired chairman, Lausanne Workplace Network
