Executive Editor for Revell Books Retiring in March
Ada, Mich. (January 24, 2019)—Baker Publishing Group today announces that Lonnie Hull DuPont, executive editor for Revell Books, will retire effective March 15, 2019. “Lonnie has generously provided for the growth of Revell through the past two decades,” said Dwight Baker, CEO and president of Baker Publishing Group. “During her appointment as editorial director she navigated multiple business challenges with keen insight and her trademark wit. She will be greatly missed.”
DuPont joined Baker Publishing Group in 1999, becoming editorial director for Revell in 2001. With a desire to spend more time on her own creative work, DuPont returned to the role of executive editor in 2007. During her time at Revell, she acquired works by New York Times bestselling author Dr. Kevin Leman and Dr. Gregory L. Jantz, and successfully spearheaded the bestselling Laugh-Out-Loud Jokes for Kids franchise, currently with more than three million copies sold. She has twice received the Editor of the Year Award from the Advanced Writers and Speakers Association.
“I have loved books my entire life, and it’s been such a gift for me to work so intimately with them,” said DuPont. “I’ve had the privilege of helping talented authors put their vision into words and their words into books, and I had great fun while doing it! I feel especially privileged that I was able to stay these last two decades with a publisher who demonstrates integrity and stewardship every day.”
Prior to joining Baker Publishing Group, DuPont’s thirty-six-year career in publishing included positions at HarperSanFrancisco, Thomas Nelson, Spring Arbor Distributors, and Guideposts. Of the many authors she’s worked with, DuPont counts Dallas Willard, Ambassador Andrew Young, Hugh Downs, Dr. Kevin Leman, Liz Curtis Higgs, Melody Carlson, Jill Eileen Smith, and Ann H. Gabhart among the highlights of her career.
An award-winning poet and author, DuPont’s creative work has also been nominated for the Pushcart Prize. She is the author of more than thirteen works of nonfiction, including Kit Kat & Lucy: The Country Cats Who Changed a City Girl’s World, and her poetry has been published in dozens of literary journals and anthologies. With several writing projects under contract, DuPont is looking forward to continued creative work after retirement.
