Imagine Heaven Hits New York Times Best Sellers List

Imagine Heaven (Baker Books; ISBN 9780801015267; ebook ISBN 9781493400515; $14.99) by John Burke has landed on the New York Times Best Sellers list, achieving the #9 spot on the Advice, How-To, and Miscellaneous list in its first week of release. This ranking reflects sales for the week ending October 31 and is based on sales from thousands of nationwide venues where general books are sold.

“John Burke is giving us a fresh picture of heaven, and readers are responding,” said Dwight Baker, president and CEO of Baker Publishing Group. “Sales have exceeded expectations, proving again our lifelong curiosity and hunger for the future that awaits us.”

In Imagine Heaven, pastor John Burke shares a big-picture view of heaven in hopes that believers and truth seekers alike will have a better understanding of what the next world holds and how that future changes their lives in this world. Burke explores the commonalities between more than one hundred near-death experiences and how they align with heavenly glimpses from Scripture to paint a picture of heaven so exhilarating that it will transform lives on earth.

A skeptical engineer, Burke began showing interest in God when he noticed a book on his parents’ bedside table at the same time his father was dying of cancer. The book, Life After Life, prompted the beginning of his near-death experiences studies, which then led his analytical mind to study God. Finding rock-solid reasons to believe, Burke left engineering and started a church for doubters like him—a church that is now home to more than 4,500 members.

Burke is the author of several books, including Imagine Heaven and Unshockable Love. He is the founder with his wife, Kathy, of Gateway Church in Austin, Texas. Burke travels and teaches globally and has taught more than 200,000 people in twenty countries.
