Bethany House Publishers is a Christian book publisher located in Bloomington, Minnesota. A summer internship with Bethany House is designed to give candidates a glimpse into the world of Christian publishing from one of the leading houses in the industry.
This is an unpaid, part-time position. Students may work with their college or university to allow this internship to count for college credit, and if they choose to do so, intern program managers will partner with the intern to complete any necessary materials. Students not seeking college credit for this internship will still be considered; however, all candidates must be enrolled in a four-year bachelor's degree program, entering their junior or senior year. They must be majoring in English, Creative Writing, Journalism, Marketing, Communications, or a related degree program. Preference will be given to candidates who have familiarity with Bethany House fiction and/or Christian fiction publishing.
This internship will take place at our Bloomington office; this is not a remote opportunity.
This internship will involve both editorial and marketing responsibilities. The duration of the internship will be within an 8-10 week range, and hours will be roughly 20-30 hours per week, depending on the candidate's schedule and/or any college requirements.
The candidate will gain experience in the following areas:
- Proposal and manuscript review
- Industry research
- Database work
- Administrative support
- Social media content creation and scheduling
- Media pitching
- Other tasks as determined by the candidate's abilities and interests
Candidates should submit their resume, a letter of recommendation from a professor in a related field, and a one-page personal statement explaining why they are seeking an internship in publishing, why they are applying to Bethany House Publishers specifically, and any related experience or background.
Submit materials as email attachments to email@example.com, including the words "Fiction Publishing Internship" in the subject line. Or mail these materials to the attention of "HR-Receptionist" at the address above. Application deadline is February 15th, 2019.
